WVC football: Berwick flexes its muscle in rout of Pittston Area

<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; A 64-yard touchdown run from Gavin D&#8217;Amato broke things wide open, as Tunkhannock scored 24 unasnwered points to pick up oits first win of the year, topping Nanticoke Area 38-14.</p><p>After a hotly contested first half in which both teams appeared to be evenly matched, the Tigers poured it on in the second half, outscoring the Trojans 17-0.</p><p>The big play came on D&#8217;Amato&#8217;s run, where he went untouched from his own 36-yard line, flashing through the middle and outrunning several Trojans defenders on his way to the touchdown.</p><p>D&#8217;Amato was a workhorse for Tunkhannock, carrying the ball 20 times for 154 yards and two scores, his first coming as the first points of the game.</p><p>Wide receiver Jake Frisco also found himself in the end zone twice on touchdown passes of 16 and 32 yards from Tigers quarterback Jack Chilson.</p><p>Chilson had a solid game in the pocket, going 12-for-19 with 146 yards and the two touchdowns.</p><p>Nanticoke Area often found itself in tight situations with miscues, including four fumbles that would help set up the Tigers in good field position.</p><p>D&#8217;Amato&#8217;s first touchdown came after a Nanticoke Area fumble gave Tunkhannock the ball on the Trojans&#8217; 5-yard line.</p><p>Nanticoke answered that touchdown with a 90-yard kick return to the house from Darren Boseman, who would score the Trojans&#8217; other touchdown as a receiver, connecting with Colby Butczynski for an 11-yard score.</p><p>Tunkhannock also converted on a 22-yard field goal and added a touchdown run from Ty Konen.</p><p>The Tigers will return home for their next game, a matchup with Pittston Area.
