Griffith files challenge seeking delay of Luzerne County voting district reconfiguration

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A man who was already facing both charges of child molestation and attempting to lure a child into a vehicle is now facing additional charges, after investigators say they found images of child pornography on his cell phone.</p><p>Austin Quick, 19, of Pittston, was arraigned before District Judge Thomas Malloy Thursday morning on three felony counts of possession of child pornography. Bail for Quick was set at $35,000; however, he was already denied bail on a previous charge by District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz, who considered Quick to be a flight risk and danger to society, so he will remain locked up at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint:</p><p>The investigation into Quick&#8217;s most recent charges began after an image of suspected child pornography was uploaded to a website in February, which created a cyber-tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Based on the IP address associated with the cyber-tip, it was forwarded to the Pennsylvania State Police.</p><p>In April, troopers executed a search warrant of the home associated with the IP address, a Tunkhannock home belonging to James Gower, Quick&#8217;s father. Gower told police his Wi-Fi network is secured with a password, that only himself and Quick had. He suspected Quick used his cellphone for the image, but that cellphone was in the possession of Quick&#8217;s mother, Christine Quick, after one of Quick&#8217;s other arrests.</p><p>In June, troopers interviewed Christine Quick, who provided them with the cellphone in question. In early July, they secured the search warrant necessary to go through the phone&#8217;s files.</p><p>On the phone, they found two image files that they believe to depict child pornography. One of the image files is a collage of four smaller images, one of which depicts what appears to be a female child simultaneously performing sex acts on an adult male and a dog.</p><p>Quick&#8217;s preliminary hearing on these charges is currently scheduled for Sept. 24.</p><p><strong>Past arrests</strong></p><p>Quick is already facing numerous charges, all involving children.</p><p>In March 2018, he was first arrested after reports surfaced that he had sexually assaulted three underage boys. Quick allegedly knew one of the boys through the Boy Scouts, and the other two through a mutual friend.</p><p>Two of the boys told an interviewer at the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center that they rode bikes with Quick through dirt tracks in Avoca. During the rides, Quick allegedly molested one of the boys and asked the other to get involved.</p><p>One of the boys says Quick assaulted him at least three times, while the third says Quick asked to perform oral sex on him, roughly tickling him after he refused until he relented. He&#8217;s facing numerous counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and corruption of minors.</p><p>While he was out on $150,000 bail, Quick was again arrested in March 2019 on a charge of luring a child into a vehicle, after he allegedly convinced a 10-year-old Pittston boy into his vehicle.</p><p>Currently, he&#8217;s scheduled to appear before Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky on Sept. 30 for his trial on the luring charge and on Nov. 4 on the molestation charges, but it&#8217;s possible these dates will be rescheduled in light of the new charges.</p><style>
