<p>KINGSTON &#8212; With little more than seven minutes to play in a game that had long been decided, the startling siren of a police car caught the attention of the crowd at Klassner Field, followed quickly by the honking horn of a fire truck.</p><p>Red alert.</p><p>The intensity of Alex Wesneski and her Wyoming Seminary field hockey teammates is raging out of control.</p><p>Wesneski scored five goals and assisted on three more Monday, Hannah Maxwell was right behind with four scores and defending state champion Wyoming Seminary burned Berwick over and again in a 13-0 victory over the Bulldogs during a District 2 Class A quarterfinal game.</p><p>&#8220;Anything can really happen when you step on a field,&#8221; Wesneski warned. &#8220;A team you&#8217;re playing can play amazing, you can play bad and you lose.</p><p>&#8220;We really stressed this is win, or go home.&#8221;</p><p>Now, the 17-2 Blue Knights are going to the District 2 semifinals after stretching their home winning streak at Klassner Field to 30 consecutive games over three years.</p><p>Sem will face either Northwest or Lackawanna Trail on Thursday at Klassner Field, after Trail and Northwest meet in another District 2 quarterfinal today.</p><p>It didn&#8217;t take the Blue Knights long to advance there.</p><p>Maxwell opened the scoring and had a hat trick by halftime, Dani Reiser had a goal and an assist and the Blue Knights had the clock running under the sportsmanship rule a few ticks after the first 20 minutes. Emma Watchilla added the first of hr two goals 35 seconds from halftime as the Blue Knights opened a 6-0 lead.</p><p>&#8220;Their skill, their talent, their confidence,&#8221; Berwick coach Amy Daniel said is what sets Sem apart. &#8220;They are confident enough to go one on one.&#8221;</p><p>Then Wesneski started hitting goal, one after another.</p><p>Needing seven goals to reach the career 100 goal mark, Wesneski got started on her big night by following Maxwell&#8217;s opening shot with her first goal with one of her own to give Sem a 2-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the night.</p><p>And she rattled off four more in a stretch that lasted just over 10 minutes during the second half, taking Sem&#8217;s lead from 8-0 to 12-0 in the blink of an eye, or at least in less time than it took the fire department to check out a situation that was developing around the corner from the field. With 10 minutes to go, Wesneski headed off the field after contributing to eight of Sem&#8217;s 13 goals.</p><p>&#8220;She&#8217;s two short of 100, (but) it&#8217;s tough to keep someone in (at that point),&#8221; Sem coach Karen Klassner said. &#8220;I just couldn&#8217;t. She had plenty of opportunities.&#8221;</p><p>That milestone will have to wait for at least another game, but the Blue Knights had plenty of players who also contributed to victory in their opening postseason game.</p><p>Emma Watchilla scored two goals and had to assists to go with Wesneski&#8217;s two assists, Anna Mozeleski tossed in a pair of assists and goalies Mia Magnotta and Megan Cotrone stopped a shot apiece to protect the shutout.</p><p>&#8220;We know how it feels to lose a state championship,&#8221; said Wesneski, a starter on Sem&#8217;s state runner-up team in 2017 before returning for last year&#8217;s PIAA gold medal. &#8220;We&#8217;re trying to take that and motivate our teammates who don&#8217;t know what it feels like.
