Want to earn women’s soccer Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks in the Landmark Conference? Just go out and score three goals in a game.

Elizabethtown senior Lydia Lawson did just that. She had all three goals in a 3-0 victory over Juniata on Oct. 5 in Huntingdon to earn her first honor and was named again last Monday after scoring all three goals in a 3-1 league triumph over Drew last Saturday in Madison, N.J.

Lawson, from Mountain Top and a Holy Redeemer graduate, leads the team and the league with 15 goals, 33 points and five game winners.

“Lydia has been phenomenal this season,” coach Amy Hough said. “She is a tremendous athlete, leader and a young woman who has continually pushed herself and our program to improve over the past four years.”

Lawson isn’t a late bloomer. She was the Landmark Offensive Player of the Year and a first team pick the past two seasons. In 58 career games, she has scored 55 goals with 11 assists for 121 points with 16 game winners. The goals are third, the points fourth and the winning goals are tied for second. She’s in reach of all three records.

“Lydia certainly continues to leave her mark on our program and in the Landmark,” Hough said. “She set some high goals for herself, but none more important than helping our team qualify and then win the league championship.”

The Blue Jays are 7-2-1 overall and 2-1 in league play after the victory over Draw.

Lizzy Dessoye (Maryland)

The 5-foot-6 senior forward scored her first goal of the season to help the No. 2-ranked field hockey team turn back Indiana 6-0 in a Big Ten Conference game last Sunday in College Park, Md. The Crestwood graduate scored the fifth goal of the game for the 13-1 Terps and it came off a rebound on a penalty shot. Dessoye has played in nine games for the bench this year. She had two goals and an assist in 31 games heading into the season.

Kayla Cull (Wittenberg)

The senior has scored a goal and has a team-high four assists for the field hockey team. Cull, from Hazelton and a graduate of Philadelphia’s Academy of the Sciences, had a goal and two assists in a 5-0 victory over Allegheny on Sept. 21, an assist in a 2-0 triumph over Concordia (Wis.) on Sept. 28 and an assist in a 2-0 shutout of Wooster on Oct. 5. The Tigers are 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference after a 4-0 road league loss to Kenyon last Sunday in Gambier, OH.

Elijah Miller (MIT)

The 6-foot-2 senior and the rifle team kicked off the fall season by turning back SUNY-Maritime 4,333-4.081 on Sept. 28 in Cambridge, Mass. Miller, from Shavertown and a Wyoming Seminar graduate, totaled a 512 score in smallbore. The team was beaten 4,569-4,305 to Coast Guard on Oct. 5, also in Cambridge. Miller finished ninth in air rifle with a score of 538 and 10th in smallbore with a score of 516. His total of 1,054 had him in ninth place.

Lynea Gregory (Virginia Commonwealth)

The 5-foot-5 sophomore midfielder has played in all 12 games with six starts for the field hockey team, the Rams 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference after a 1-0 league loss to Lock Haven last Friday in Lock Haven and a 4-1 non-league setback to American last Sunday in Washington, D.C. The Lake-Lehman graduate has picked up a pair of assists and helped the team’s defense limit foes to 17 goals (2.01 goals against average) with four shutouts.

Lindsey Quinn (Marywood)

The 5-foot-2 senior leads the field hockey team in scoring, the Pacers 9-3 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic East Conference after a 3-2 double overtime league victory over Wesley last Saturday in Scranton. The G.A.R. Memorial graduate assisted on the game-winning goal. Quinn has scored 10 goals and added four assists for 24 points with three game winners. She was a first team All-Conference choice and a second team All-ECAC pick last season after getting five goals and six assists for 16 points.

Mike Bazadona III (Bloomsburg)

The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder has a goal and two assists for the men’s soccer team, the Huskies 4-7 overall and 3-3 in PSAC East play after a 3-1 league loss to Millersville last Saturday in Millersville. The Wyoming Valley West graduate scored the first goal in a 2-1 league triumph over East Stroudsburg on Sept. 25 in East Stroudsburg. It was the 12th goal of his career. His sophomore brother, Nick Bazadona, has played in four games off the bench and he scored his first collegiate goal in a 5-0 league win over Shepherd on Sept. 21 in Bloomsburg.

Albert McFadden (DeSales)

The junior was named MAC Freedom Golfer of the Week last Monday after he shot a season-low round of 72 to finish fourth in the Muhlenberg Fall Invitational on Oct. 7 in Allentown. It was the final match of the fall season for the Bulldogs. McFadden, from Drums and a Marion Catholic Graduate, played six rounds during the fall season and had a team-high 78.83 average. He had four top five finishes along with a top 10 finish in six events.

Ruby Mattson (Grove City)

The senior midfielder continues to be a force for the women’s soccer team. The Dallas graduate had the first goal in a 2-0 Presidents’ Athletic Conference victory over Geneva last Saturday in Grove City. She had the only score in a 1-0 league triumph over Waynesboro on Oct. 4 in Waynesburg and the first goal in a 2-1 victory over Mount Union on Oct. 1 in Grove City. Mattson has a team-high nine goals and a team-high 21 points. The goals are tied for first and the points are second on the PAC statistic list.

Michael Coe (Lycoming)

The football team is 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference after a 29-24 loss to Alvernia last Saturday in Reading. The 6-foot, 210-pound freshman has been busy as the team’s punter. Coe has kicked the ball 29 times for 1,054 yards and an average of 36.34. The Pittston Area graduate had a season-long 57-yarder in a 19-13 league loss to King’s on Sept. 28 in Wilkes-Barre. He’s had five punts inside the 20 yards line and has kicked the ball into the end zone as well.

Savanna Robinson (Keystone)

The senior midfielder, a Coughlin graduate, had the only goal in the field hockey team’s 1-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference victory over Cedar Crest last Saturday in Allentown. Robinson had both goals in a 2-1 overtime triumph in a league game over Wilson on Oct. 5 in La Plume. She leads the Colonial States Athletic Conference in four offensive categories -- goals (14), points (30), shots taken (69 and shots on goal (46). She’s tied for first in game winners with four.
