KINGSTON &#8212; It wasn&#8217;t so much about making a personal milestone that got Alex Wesneski going.What meant the most to her was getting back to a district title game again.And when those two major accomplishments ran parellel to each other Thursday night, she couldn&#8217;t help cracking a smile about it.Long before that, though, Wesneski cracked her 100th career goal into the back of the cage and Ella Barbacci had her first playoff hat trick, highlighting Wyoming Seminary&#8217;s 7-1 lashing of old rival Lackawanna Trail in a District 2 Class A semifinal game at Klassner Field.&#8220;Definitely, it was a great accomplishment,&#8221; Wesneski, who will play Division 1 field hockey at Iowa next season, said of her milestone mark. &#8220;I couldn&#8217;t have done it without my teammates over the years.&#8221;To prove her point, Wesneski pointed to the first goal of the game Thursday.Wesneski scored it. But only after long-time teammate and fellow senior Hannah Maxwell swooped in for a steal, whisked halfway down the field with the ball, then delivered a pinpoint pass that Wesneski &#8212; moving quickly into the circle and right in front of the cage &#8212; was happy to deposit into the back of the cage.&#8220;We were being told to push the ball up the field,&#8221; Wesneski said. &#8220;Hannah has always found me in that spot through my four years. We just have a good connection.&#8221;Wesneski connected again off a feed from freshman Barbacci with 8:40 remaining in the first half, giving Sem a 4-0 lead and giving Wesneski&#8217;s a nice round of applause for scoring her milestone goal.&#8220;Honestly, I did not even know about it until halfway through the season,&#8221; Wesneski said. &#8220;I felt like I was in a (scoring) slump, so I didn&#8217;t think I&#8217;d be able to get it.&#8221;When she did, her teammates gave her an enthusiastic embrace.&#8220;I was just, &#8216;Yeah, let&#8217;s go back to the 50 (to start play again),&#8221; Wesneski said. &#8220;When my teammates came up and congratulated me, it was a surreal feeling.&#8221;And a special one for Sem.It marked the first time the defending state champion Blue Knights fielded two 100-goal scorers on the same team in their illustrious field hockey history, as Wesneski joined Wake-Forest-bound Maxwell &#8212; who hit made it to 100 goalsin the final weeks of the regular season &#8212; in reaching that magical mark.&#8220;It&#8217;s an amazing accomplishment by both of them,&#8221; Wyoming Seminary coach Karen Klassner said. &#8220;They both deserve it, they&#8217;re both in the US (field hockey) system, they&#8217;re both going to good college programs. I don&#8217;t think this is the last we&#8217;re going to be hearing from the two of them. We&#8217;re going to miss both of them next year as senior leaders. They both can put the ball in the cage for us.&#8221;Before they leave, though, both are looking to put more banners on the wall at Wyoming Seminary.Barbacci showed she can help with that, scoring the third goal for the Blue Knights before converting assists from Wesneski late in the first half and early in the second to record her first playoff hat trick and give Sem a commanding 7-0 lead.By then, Sem was already looking forward to a District 2 Class A title rematch from last year with Wyoming Area at 6 p.m. at Wyoming Valley West&#8217;s Spartan Stadium.&#8220;I think it&#8217;s exciting,&#8221; Wesneski said. &#8220;Nothing is given to us, everything has to be earned. We&#8217;re happy to be back in the district championship. Wesneski’s 100th career goal leads Sem back to district field hockey finals
