Bomb threat sends Wyoming Valley West High School students home for a day

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The heavy rain forecast for Thursday is playing a trick on Halloween festivities downtown and forcing the city to reschedule the treat for Friday.</p><p>Along with the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association and Diamond City Partnership, the city invites Trick or Treaters to come in costume to the free Halloween event from 4 to 7 p.m.</p><p>The following blocks will be closed to traffic before, during, and shortly after the event, from noon to 8 p.m. All cars should be removed from these areas by noon:</p><p>&#8226; South Main Street between Northampton Street and Public Square.</p><p>&#8226; Public Square between South Main Street and West Market Street.</p><p>&#8226; Public Square between South Main Street. and East Market Street.</p><p>Wilkes-Barre Police Department will block traffic, and Wilkes-Barre Fire Department will be on site to provide First Aid.</p><p>Trick-or-treaters can visit the following downtown businesses and organizations: Anthracite-Not Just a Newsstand, Barnes &amp; Noble: Wilkes-King&#8217;s, Boscov&#8217;s, Butler Eye Care, El Zocalo, Hartman Jerk Center, King of Kings Gyros, Luzerne Bank, Mimmo&#8217;s Pizza, Socialocca LLC and The Video Game Store.</p><p>The following organizations and businesses will be on South Main Street: 97.1 BHT-Cumulus Media, City of Wilkes-Barre, David Blight School of Dance, Diamond City Partnership, Downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association, Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, Kisailus Law Firm LLC, One Source Staffing, Osterhout Free Library, Rotary Club of Wilkes-Barre, Times Leader, Wilkes-Barre Fire Department, and Wilkes-Barre Police Department.</p><p>The city will present a Halloween &#8220;Thriller&#8221; flash mob with David Blight School of Dance and 97.1 BHT-Cumulus Media, featuring Mayor Tony George at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Midtown Village.</p><p>This year&#8217;s sponsors are:</p><p>&#8226; Citymark Federal Credit Union.</p><p>&#8226; D &amp; N Furniture.</p><p>&#8226; Doran &amp; Doran, PC.</p><p>&#8226; Downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association.</p><p>&#8226; Dr. David Potash.</p><p>&#8226; Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce.</p><p>&#8226; Istanbul Grill.</p><p>&#8226; Johnston &amp; Johnston Law Offices.</p><p>&#8226; Kundratic Consulting.</p><p>&#8226; LETT&#8217;S EAT-Flavors of India.</p><p>&#8226; Nahas &amp; Donahue Orthodontics.</p><style>
