Distracted and drunk drivers pose dangers for trick-or-treaters

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Berwick was three points away from a three-set sweep of the District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional girls volleyball match when Rebecca Klemovitch pounded home one of her 25 kills.</p><p>Klemovitch followed it up with three straight service points to pull out the third set and Western Wayne did not stop until it had rallied all the way to the championship with a 16-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-10 victory Wednesday night at Holy Redeemer High School.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a tough pill to swallow because they know just how close they were and they really wanted this,&#8221; Berwick coach Sarah Warner said. &#8220;They worked so hard all season for this. To be that close to victory, it&#8217;s indescribable.&#8221;</p><p>The athleticism of Trina Barcarola (26 digs) and the setting of Kaeli Romanowski (35 assists) provided a boost, but it was Klemovitch who was the match&#8217;s most dominant force.</p><p>&#8220;She&#8217;s an athlete,&#8221; Warner said. &#8220;She&#8217;s dominant at the net, but probably their best server and passer as well. You can&#8217;t overlook her. &#8220;She&#8217;s got a heavy arm, but she&#8217;s smart as well.&#8221;</p><p>The 5-foot-10 senior had six aces and three blocks.</p><p>Western Wayne followed up a win over defending champion Nanticoke in the semifinals by taking out the top seed in the final.</p><p>&#8220;We were kind of like the underdog and sort of walked into this not really being known,&#8221; Klemovitch said. &#8220;We&#8217;ve been working toward this for four years.</p><p>&#8220;I think we put our name out there a little bit.&#8221;</p><p>Through three different types of sets, Berwick seemed on the verge of putting Western Wayne away.</p><p>The Bulldogs took control midway through the first set after neither team led by more than one point until they made it 12-10.</p><p>Berwick ran out to a 13-5 lead in the second set and held off the first Western Wayne surge.</p><p>After Western Wayne ran off seven straight points early in the third set, Berwick rallied from multiple three-point deficits, then scored four of five points for its 23-21 lead.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve done that a lot this season unfortunately,&#8221; Warner said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a problem that&#8217;s been plaguing us and I warned them that it was going to come back and haunt them.</p><p>&#8220;Unfortunately we did not learn our lesson. We fought hard. We can&#8217;t hang our heads, but we&#8217;ve got to learn how to close sets when we have an opportunity.&#8221;</p><p>Western Wayne responded to the deficit the way coach Darren Thorpe wanted.</p><p>&#8220;I think we got aggressive,&#8221; Thorpe said. &#8220;I think a bigger, more important part was we decided we weren&#8217;t going to lose or if we were going to lose, we were going to go at them hard.&#8221;</p><p>Liberty Gearinger and Sarah Steeber had 11 kills while Camille Pinterich had 10 for Berwick, which had its season come to an end. Morgan Nevel had 16 service points, three aces, 42 assists, 13 digs and a block.</p><p>Western Wayne moves into the state tournament Wednesday.</p><style>
