Sentence upheld for man who admitted to assaulting Pittston woman

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A free ride all day, a commemorative pin and a bag full of snacks, all courtesy of the Luzerne County Transportation Authority.</p><p>All of the above perks were afforded veterans on Monday as LCTA again celebrated and thanked them for their military service.</p><p>LCTA Interim Executive Director, Lee Horton, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, was joined by two LCTA employees &#8212; LCTA driver Kevin McGee, president of the ATU Local 164, a U.S. Army veteran; and Joshua Burkholder, IT administrator, a USMC veteran.</p><p>LCTA has celebrated Veterans Day for several years by honoring local veterans.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a long-standing tradition of honoring area veterans and active duty military on Veterans Day,&#8221; said Lorri Palovchak, LCTA Public Relations Manager. &#8220;And throughout the day, LCTA employees were riding LCTA buses and distributing gifts to veterans.&#8221;</p><p>Palovchak said veterans only had to show the bus driver their Military ID Card; VA Medical Card or Certificate of Discharge. Active duty soldiers simply showed their military identification.</p><p>LCTA hosted a meet-and-greet for veterans at the James F. Conahan Intermodal Transportation Center, in Wilkes-Barre, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Horton took the opportunity to greet his fellow veterans, thank them for their service and present them with a small token of appreciation on behalf of everyone at LCTA.</p><p>In addition, members of the LCTA leadership team rode random bus routes throughout Veterans Day to offer commemorative pins to veterans riding the bus.</p><p>Each veteran at the Intermodal was given a lunch bag with snacks, water and a gift certificate to McDonald&#8217;s.</p><style>
