<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Local officials will mark the 10th anniversary of Small Business Saturday with a Nov. 30 ribbon cutting and a series of special events downtown, together with deals from small businesses in center city.</p><p>The ribbon cutting will take place outside the BeeHive Gift Shop in Midtown Village at 41 South Main St., kicking off a day of activities coordinated by the Diamond City Partnership, the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association, the City of Wilkes-Barre, and supported by the PPL Foundation.</p><p>At the ribbon cutting, Lindsay Griffin, Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce; Larry Newman, Diamond City Partnership; and Patricia Hughes, City of Wilkes-Barre will announce plans for next year&#8217;s Downtown Pop-up Holiday Marketplace.</p><p>The pop-up shops, which have been a holiday feature for the past two years, will take a hiatus this year, but a joint release from the participating organizations said they plan to &#8220;take that initiative to the next level during the 2020 holiday season.&#8221;</p><p>After the ribbon cutting, the action will shift to Public Square, where the Old-Fashioned Holiday Market will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., featuring food, entertainment, and arts and crafts all day.</p><p>Activities will include:</p><p>&#8226; Retail and craft vendors.</p><p>&#8226; Visits with Santa from noon to 3 p.m., with surprises.</p><p>&#8226; $5-per-person horse-drawn carriage rides from 2-7 p.m. to benefit Cori&#8217;s Place.</p><p>&#8226; A live nativity from 3-7 p.m.</p><p>&#8226; Entertainment at the bandstand will include Mt. Zion Praise Dance Team, Dance theatre of Wilkes-Barre, David Blight School of Dance, Wilkes-Barre Mohegan Sun Holiday Choir, Moving River Ministries Dramatic Sign Language Team and Youth Stick performers, and Misericordia&#8217;s Beyond Harmony: A Capella Group.</p><p>&#8226; The F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts will host a Holiday Arts Market from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. featuring local artists, ornament making station, coloring sheets and more. It will feature a holiday story time, Christmas Carol Sing-a-long, tree lighting and a visit from Santa from 1-1:45 p.m. The movie &#8220;Miracle on 34th Street&#8221; will be shown at 2 p.m.</p><p>Throughout the day on Small Business Saturday, more than fifty small businesses in Downtown and Greater Wilkes-Barre will offer special deals or discounts at their store locations, giving local shoppers incentive to &#8220;shop small.&#8221; Maps of all participating businesses and their deals for the day will be published in local media and on Facebook leading up to the event, and will be handed out at the Old-Fashioned Holiday Market.</p><p>For a list of participating &#8220;Shop Small&#8221; business and vendors, visit the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber&#8217;s Facebook page at @GWBChamber.</p><style>
