Jessye Norman remembered as force of nature at Met memorial

<p>HAZLETON &#8212; Four-time World Series Champion and five-time All Star centerfielder Bernie Williams and David Ross, a catcher for two world Series champions and Joe Maddon&#8217;s successor as manager of the Chicago Cubs, will join Maddon at the Hazleton Integration Project&#8217;s Ninth Annual Broad Street Bash on Friday, Dec. 13.</p><p>The fun-filled event will be held at The Pines Eatery, 8 West Broad St., Hazleton, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.</p><p>The &#8220;B Street Band,&#8221; the original Bruce Springsteen tribute band, will perform throughout the evening, which will also include celebrity guests, &#8220;casino-style games&#8221; and an auction of unique sports memorabilia.</p><p>Williams spent 16 seasons in the major leagues, all with the Yankees. His uniform number 51 was retired by the Yankees in 2015.</p><p>Ross, played 15 seasons in the major leagues and earned World Series rings with the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs.</p><p>Maddon, a Hazleton native and three-time Manager of the Year, was named manager of the Los Angeles Angels on Oct. 16.</p><p>All proceeds from the Broad Street Bash will benefit the Hazleton Integration Project, a community-based effort that seeks to unite the people of many different cultures who call Hazleton home.</p><p>The project&#8217;s main focus is to sustain a community center geared at economically disadvantaged youth and adults.</p><p>The facility &#8212; known as the Hazleton One Community Center &#8212; continues to host many educational, athletic and cultural activities at little or no cost to participants.</p><p>Sponsorships and individual tickets are available at the Hazleton One Community Center, 225 E 4th St, Hazleton (570-861-8081); the Valley Country Club, 79 Country Club Way, Sugarloaf (570-233-5328, or vccpro@thevalleycountryclub.com); or SHOP2, 105 East Broad St. Hazleton (570-751-3351).</p><style>
