Project to support single moms for Christmas

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The best workplaces in Northeastern Pennsylvania were honored at a special &#8220;Best Places to Work&#8221; ceremony hosted by Times Leader Media Group on Monday night at Le Manhattan Bistro.</p><p>Numerous businesses big and small from across Luzerne County turned out to celebrate at the popular French restaurant, with food, drinks and good company shared by all.</p><p>&#8220;You all are here because people do believe that you are the best places to work,&#8221; said Times Leader Media Group Publisher Mike Murray, who welcomed guests to the event.</p><p>&#8220;This really has little to do with us,&#8221; Murray added. &#8220;People want to work for you.&#8221;</p><p>The winning businesses were separated into tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. A full list of winners will be published on Saturday in a special section of the Times Leader.</p><p>The businesses represented were diverse and cover a range of fields, including early education, dentistry, emergency services and senior living facilities.</p><p>One such award recipient was the Luzerne County 911 communications team.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re thrilled, absolutely thrilled,&#8221; said Andy Zahorsky, who represented Luzerne County 911 along with Megan Hannon.</p><p>The agency serves municipalities throughout Luzerne County by dispatching police, fire and emergency services. To do so, they have to have a large staff working together in total sync to make sure the job is done right.</p><p>&#8220;Our staff puts in a lot of work and are very dedicated,&#8221; Hannon said. &#8220;This just goes to show that our work does not go unnoticed.&#8221;</p><p>Another honoree, Step by Step, was represented by employees Sue Kauffman and Alexis Vaskas.</p><p>Step By Step has been providing social services to Northeastern Pennsylvania for over 40 years.</p><p>&#8220;Oh my god, we&#8217;re overwhelmed,&#8221; Kauffman said of the award, noting that the organization provides support to individuals with disabilities. Kauffman said.</p><p>Other award winners included Cookie Corner Pre-school, Cafe Rinaldi and The Woodhouse Day Spa.</p><style>
