Northwest posts lone WVC boys basketball win in Conference Challenge

<p>WRIGHT TWP. &#8212; Rolling door manufacturer CornellCookson recently marked the completion of a $14 million expansion of its Mountain Top facility.</p><p>The occasion was marked with a ribbon cutting and celebration last week at the plant on Elmwood Avenue in the Crestwood Industrial Park.</p><p>CornellCookson makes rolling door and grille products designed for commercial, industrial, institutional and retail use at the facility, which employs a little under 500 people <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/679270/cornellcookson-adding-40-new-jobs-to-mountain-top-plant" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">and has undergone rapid growth in recent years</a>.</p><p>The company is a division of Ohio-based Clopay Corp., and has another manufacturing facility in Goodyear, Ariz. Clopay, in turn, is owned by New York-based Griffon Corporation.</p><p>With the expansion here, CornellCookson&#8217;s Wright Township plant has grown from 10 bays to 16 bays &#8211; a 60% increase &#8212; and has increased its total manufacturing space by 92,000 square feet, up to 253,000 square feet.</p><p>&#8220;CornellCookson has a legacy of innovation, quality, and customer service dating back to the early 19th century,&#8221; Dave Moon, vice president of operations at CornellCookson, said in a statement released by the firm.</p><p>&#8220;The company recently celebrated 190 years in business and this investment by Clopay and Griffon will enable CornellCookson&#8217;s Northeast Pennsylvania manufacturing footprint to satisfy demand east of the Mississippi,&#8221; Moon added.</p><p>Earlier this year the company added a fifth shift in Wright Township to meet demand, and continues to hire. Those openings include manufacturing and production positions.</p><p>According to the release, CornellCookson&#8217;s products &#8220;can be found in stadiums, distribution facilities, hospitals, hotels and museums, as well as a variety of other facilities where reliability, security and life safety is vital.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;CornellCookson is at the forefront of innovation and this investment will allow the company to meet increasing demand for its high-performance rolling doors, grilles, fire-rated products and specialty doors that provide enhanced security and life safety,&#8221; Sean Smith, chief commercial officer, said in the statement.</p><p>&#8220;Expanding our existing manufacturing capacity in Mountain Top is a testament to the company&#8217;s success in the commercial door market and its focus on providing our dealers, architects and building owners newly developed advanced door solutions,&#8221; Smith added.</p><style>
