Crestwood seeking state approval to exceed property tax limit

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A man who was accused of raping two sisters over a period of time pleaded guilty on Monday to four counts.</p><p>Matthew George Mantik, 28, of Shavertown, entered guilty pleas on Monday before Luzerne County President Judge Michael T. Vough on Monday to two counts of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion and one count each of indecent assault of a person while they were unconscious and corruption of minors.</p><p>Police accused Mantik of having illegal sexual encounters with the girls for years, beginning by asking one of them about sex via text messages when she was only 11 or 12.</p><p>Police say Mantik raped the younger girl in February 2018, threatening to kill her if she told anyone.</p><p>Mantik was also accused of raping her older sister in several instances around February 2017.</p><p>Vough scheduled sentencing for Mantik for April 6. Mantik will be locked up until sentencing, as Vough revoked his bail after his guilty pleas.</p><p style="text-align: right;"><em>&#8212; Patrick Kernan</em> </p><style>

Shavertown man pleads guilty in rape case
