The Trump economy is booming, but at what cost?
				If I were to lower the cost of doing business in order to generate a robust economy, would I be an economic genius? If I were to do away with environmental regulations and their associated expenses, along with lowering taxes on profits, would that make me an economist?
				There is no free lunch. Everything has an expense and consequence attached to it. The good thing about expenses is that if you have enough money, you can afford them. Money, buys privilege. In another words, the rich can make money at the expense of the poor.
				In this case, the expense associated with the Trump economy are out of control deficits and a dirtier environment. Deficits will spark conversations about unsustainable entitlement programs. And a dirtier environment will spark conversations about polluted neighborhoods and geographic inequality.
				The job creators will say that we need the coal plant to power the factory. Just don&rsquo;t put the coal plant in their back yard. The wealthy will be insulated from a tattered social safety net because they don&rsquo;t need a social safety net. They already have their own net.
				You may ask, what about employment? Look at all the jobs! Ok, let&rsquo;s look at job growth. The top 5 sectors of job growth according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2018 were: personal care aides, combined food preparation and serving workers, including fast food, registered nurses, home health aides, and cooks, restaurant.
				No body but the boss is getting rich in those professions.
				This Trump economy gets people working while promoting income inequality. The rich are getting richer and maybe now the poor can afford a baby. But with the minimum wage what it is, the working poor may need a helping hand which won&rsquo;t be there because deficits won&rsquo;t support social welfare programs.
				I want policies with an eye to the future, that do not rely on old technology and some vision of past glory. I am not interested in the short-term gains of the now that benefit mostly the wealthy and placate the poor. I want policies that acknowledge climate change and promote industries that will help the environment and insure that my grandchildren see a polar bear or the Amazon rain forest. I want an economy that is fair to all. I want to know that social security and Medicare are solvent, because unlike the millionaire, some of us are going to actually need it.
				And that is why I can not vote for Donald Trump for president based upon this economy.
