Kirby Center closes amid coronavirus concerns

WILKES-BARRE TWP. &mdash; A man from Butler Township was arrested by township police after he allegedly grabbed a mop and threatened to kill a woman Monday night. 
				Victor Manuel Rivera, 46, of Ever Court, was jailed Tuesday unable to post $100,000 bail on domestic assault charges stemming from an incident inside a residence on Francis Street. 
				Police allege Rivera had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage when he showed up unannounced while his ex-girlfriend and a child were taking groceries inside their home at about 11:30 p.m. 
				According to the criminal complaint: 
				The woman told police she returned home with her two children, ages 9 and 3, from a department store when Rivera entered her residence. 
				She immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Rivera. 
				Police said the woman was polite with Rivera, with whom she had a previous relationship, as not to cause a conflict with him. 
				Rivera was blaming the woman for cheating on him and called her derogatory names. 
				Rivera allegedly threatened to kill her by putting a bullet through her skull. He threatened to assault the woman with a mop he swung around hitting items in the kitchen, the complaint says. 
				Police said the woman and her children ran out of the house. 
				Rivera was arrested when he walked down from the second floor, police said. 
				Rivera was arraigned by District Judge Rick Cronauer in Wilkes-Barre on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.
