As outbreak blows up finances, a limit to EU solidarity

WILKES-BARRE &mdash; City police captured a man they say was wanted on felony drug trafficking offenses hiding under attic insulation at a residence on Trethaway Avenue on Tuesday night.
				Police responded to the residence for a domestic dispute at about 9:30 p.m. arresting Ryan Gontz, 29, of West Second Street, Hazleton.
				Court records say Gontz was wanted on allegations he was peddling heroin and fentanyl discovered inside the residence on Feb. 24.
				According to the criminal complaint:
				Jennifer Holbrook told police Gontz, who formerly lived with her, entered her residence without her knowledge. When she confronted Gontz in the kitchen telling him to leave, he grabbed Holbrook by her hooded sweatshirt and forced her head into a mop bucket filled with dirty water.
				When officers arrived, Holbrook claimed Gontz was hiding somewhere inside the residence.
				Officers found Gontz hiding under insulation in the attic.
				Court records say Gontz was wanted on drug trafficking charges stemming from heroin and fentanyl found inside the Trethaway Avenue residence on Feb. 24.
				In that case, police responded to a domestic dispute involving Gontz and Holbrook.
				Several empty heroin packets were found in plain view.
				As officers searched the house, nearly 30 heroin packets, methamphetamine, a scale and a .22-caliber handgun were found, court records say.
				Police executed a search warrant on Gontz&rsquo;s cellphone that allegedly showed messages referring to sale and delivery of narcotics.
				Gontz was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Joseph Halesey in Luzerne County Central Court on separate criminal complaints charging him with simple assault, harassment, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of communication facility. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 total bail.
