PLAINS TWP. &mdash; Almost cut my hair, well, not really.
				But it is getting kind of long.
				With apologies to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, &ldquo;I feel like letting my freak flag fly.&rdquo;
				Not really, but what choice do we have?
				Barber shops are closed, I don&rsquo;t own a Flowbee and who can see me anyway?
				So as this pandemic continues, hair continues to grow &mdash; on everybody.
				Social media addicts are posting pics of their overgrown coifs, others are displaying themselves actually attempting to cut their own hair &mdash; it&rsquo;s somewhat frightening.
				All I know is I do not want to go back to my younger years when I thought having way too long hair was cool, man. When I look at the few pictures I have of those long hair hippie freak days I cringe.
				The CSNY song goes, &ldquo;Must be because I had the flu for Christmas, and I&rsquo;m not feeling up to par It increases my paranoia.&rdquo;
				Whoa, those lyrics are sure appropriate these days.
				And then the song says this, &ldquo;But I&rsquo;m not, I&rsquo;m not giving in an inch to fear.&rdquo;
				And neither should we.
				If it means our hair gets to the point that we become somewhat unsightly, then so be it. And if we have to stay home and exist on baloney sandwiches, pizza and macaroni and cheese, then we do it.
				Back in those long-haired days, we seldom thought of going to a barber. For a haircut? Yeah, right.
				Then many of us decided to get married and our wives-to-be demanded that we walk down the aisle well-groomed. In my case, the late Frankie Sartorio accepted the challenge of taming my wiry mop, noting that he had to first sharpen his scissors. And when he was done, he had to sharpen them again.
				So on my waddling day, I was well-groomed, looking so spiffy with my short hair and wearing a brown tuxedo. Yeah, that&rsquo;s right, a brown tuxedo. With an off-white puffy shirt no less. The guys in my wedding party wore the same brown tuxedos, but they wore powder blue frilly shirts. Oh, it was a scene, man.
				I have pictures to prove all of this.
				But in the 60s, we were all so darn cool with our long hair, bell-bottom jeans and paisley print shirts. We were styling, for sure.
				Let&rsquo;s hope this pandemic doesn&rsquo;t make us go to our attics and dig out those fashion items. Nobody, really, wants to see that.
				We sure were cool back then, but we have to be super cool today. We have to obey the rules and practice social-distancing. We have to self-isolate. We have to wash our hands. We have to do all we can to fight against the coronavirus.
				Living through a pandemic has its rules and its sacrifices. Longer hair is just one of the unfortunate side effects of being unable to do what we normally would be doing.
				Even though some people want to see our COVID-19 appearance, I ask that you refrain from posting those less-than-attractive photos. Keep them for posterity. When this is all over, you can then look at them and compare them to the pre-pandemic you.
				When our lives return to some form of normalcy, I wonder what will be the first thing people will do. Will they go out for dinner? Go shopping? Have a house party? Get to the gym?
				Me? I&rsquo;m calling Aldo for a haircut.

Coping with Corona: Not cutting my own hair
