Hundreds attend peaceful Wilkes-Barre protest organized by 3 high school students

HANOVER TWP. &mdash; Firefighters wearing their dress uniforms marched alongside Hanover Township River Rescue apparatus that carried the body of longtime firefighter Joseph M. Nealon Jr. on Wednesday.
				Nealon, 58, of Hanover Green in Hanover Township, died Saturday. He was buried in St. Mary&rsquo;s Cemetery in Hanover Township.
				Nealon was a lifelong member of the Ashley and Hanover Township, Brelau Hose Co. 5, fire departments and was employed by the Newport Township Fire Department and Churnetski Transportation, transporting students for the Hanover Area School District.
				He also drove Hanover student-athletes to sporting contests.
				Nealon&rsquo;s viewing was held at the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home in Ashley.
				North Main Street, Ashley Street and St. Mary&rsquo;s Road were closed as the mile-long procession took Nealon&rdquo;s body to the cemetery where a firefighter played TAPS.
				Luzerne County 911 also broadcasted the customary &ldquo;last call&rdquo; when a first responder passes away.
				Firefighters in Nanticoke covered emergency dispatches in Hanover and Newport townships during the funeral. 
				Taking part in the procession were fire departments from the townships of Hanover, Newport, and Slocum, and Ashley, Harveys Lake, Honey Pot, Kingston, Kunkle, Lake Silkworth, Sugar Notch, Plymouth Station No. 1, Reliance, police from Rice Township and Sugar Notch, and ambulance companies from Nanticoke, Hanover and Geisinger.
