Virus cases continue to rise, undermining states’ reopening push

SALEM TWP. &mdash; A man from Benton was arraigned Monday on allegations he sexually assaulted a girl in 2017.
				Salem Township police charged Austin Richard Wample, 23, with rape of a child, two counts of corruption of minors and three counts of indecent assault. He was arraigned by District Judge Rick Cronauer in Wilkes-Barre and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
				Police filed the charges after a forensic interviewer questioned the girl at the Luzerne County Children&rsquo;s Advocacy Center.
				According to the criminal complaint:
				A girl told authorities she was with her sister and Wample at a residence on East Front Street playing video games and watching movies. When she fell asleep, she claimed Wample sexually assaulted her.
				After the alleged assault, her mother noticed her crying as the girl told her mom she had a bad dream.
				She told authorities Wample apologized to her saying he did not know what got over him.
