PLYMOUTH &mdash; They died decades ago serving the people of Plymouth.
				Now, three borough police officers who were killed in the line of duty will be memorialized by an Eagle Scout candidate who is doing all he can to assure the men are never forgotten.
				Nathaniel Wren, 16, of Plymouth, has raised the funding for a monument to Thomas Reese, James Price and John LaBarr Peters which will be placed in front of the borough building on West Shawnee Avenue.
				Wren also is helping prepare the site where the granite memorial will stand, with an unveiling ceremony expected to be held in the next two weeks.
				Reese was fatally shot on June 18, 1931. Price died in a motorcycle crash on April 18, 1934. Peters died in a vehicle crash en route to a call on Aug. 21, 1962.
				&ldquo;I just felt these men needed to be honored,&rdquo; Wren said. &ldquo;They were serving our town when they died and they should be honored for that.&rdquo;
				Eagle Scout process
				Wren has been a member of Troop 241, Lehman Township, for 11 years. His scoutmaster is Brian Doran.
				He is the son of Ted and Lisa Wren of Plymouth. He has a sister, Adrienne, 13. Wren will be a junior at Holy Redeemer High School in the fall.
				Wren said he first heard about the three officers&rsquo; deaths about a year ago and he began to think about what could be done to honor them. Wren said he hadn&rsquo;t heard of any other plans to honor the men, so he came up with the idea of placing a monument in front of the borough building.
				Nathaniel&rsquo;s Eagle Scout project is about showing leadership, and this project does not make him an Eagle Scout. After he completes the project, he has paperwork to do and then he will have an interview with his troop leaders and then the BSA council committee. The process will take a few months before he hears whether he successfully achieves that rank.
				Community support
				The black granite monument has been purchased and engraved.
				The cost was $1,775, paid for with money Wren raised in the community. Wren sold Gertrude Hawk candy bars to raise a lot of the money and he received donations from Plymouth Alive and the Neighborhood Watch Committee. Many donations were received from individuals, Wren said.
				&ldquo;The whole town really got behind the project,&rdquo; Wren said.
				Mayor Frank Coughlin said Plymouth residents are &ldquo;very caring&rdquo; and they wanted to help see the project through.
				Wren said he will dig the foundation for the monument and he will pour the concrete. The base of the monument will then be set and the monument will be placed on top. Wren said he will do some landscaping around the monument, including planting some flowers.
				&ldquo;I developed the whole idea in my head,&rdquo; Wren said. &ldquo;I then presented my idea to borough council.&rdquo;
				Mayor Coughlin and Council members John Thomas and Bill Dixon said council got behind Wren&rsquo;s project immediately. Thomas served as Plymouth Chief of Police from December 1975 to January 1998.
				&ldquo;I find Nathaniel&rsquo;s project to be very admirable,&rdquo; Thomas said. &ldquo;It shows that he really cares about making sure these three men are never forgotten. They served the borough well and it&rsquo;s important to honor them.&rdquo;
				Wren and Mayor Coughlin said they hope to invite surviving family members of the three fallen officers to the ceremony.
				Lori Dydynski, Wren&rsquo;s aunt, said the family is extremely proud of Nathaniel for his dedication to the project.
				Mayor Coughlin agreed.
				&ldquo;When a young man like Nathaniel steps forward to something like this to honor our officers, it makes you feel really good,&rdquo; Mayor Coughlin said. &ldquo;We need more young people like Nathaniel and he should be recognized for his concern for his community.&rdquo;
				Councilman Dixon said Wren &ldquo;epitomizes what the Boy Scouts experience is all about.&rdquo;
				Plymouth Borough Police Chief Anthony Gorey said he thinks the project is a great idea.
				Gorey, who grew up in upper Luzerne County, said several communities have monuments honoring fallen officers.
				&ldquo;I am extremely impressed that Nathaniel was able to make this happen and we are grateful for his effort,&rdquo; Gorey said.
