Trial date set for
				man accused of attempted murder
				WILKES-BARRE &mdash; A trial date has been set for a man who state police say fired shots into a vehicle at a Plymouth Township strip club, nearly striking a woman and her stepson.
				James A. Bush, 35, of Wilkes-Barre, is facing two counts of attempted homicide, four counts of attempted aggravated assault and two counts of attempted reckless endangerment stemming from a March incident.
				According to police, Bush opened fire on Tashia Vendetta Cato, 41, and Dyheem Tremon Simmons, 22, both of Plymouth, outside the Elite Club 4 Play Gentlemen&rsquo;s Club on Route 11.
				Bush appeared via video conference call before Luzerne County President Judge Michael T. Vough on Monday, who scheduled Bush&rsquo;s trial date for Sept. 28.
				Cato told investigators she arrived at the gentlemen&rsquo;s club with her stepson at about 3 a.m. Cato observed Bush inside the club and knows him through her ex-boyfriend having a relationship with Bush&rsquo;s girlfriend.
				Cato says that while leaving the club with Simmons at about 5 a.m., a BMW with Bush and two other men pulled up alongside her vehicle, and Bush opened fire.
				Neither Cato nor Simmons were struck by the gunfire, but Cato had to receive medical treatment for facial injuries sustained from broken glass.
				Bush remains locked up without bail, and also has a court date scheduled for Aug. 3 for gun charges stemming from the incident that were filed separately.
				Sentencing for father

				WILKES-BARRE &mdash; A Plymouth man who previously pleaded guilty to charges after he was found slumped on a bus seat while ostensibly caring for his four children was sentenced to spend at least a year-and-a-half under probation.
				Paul A. Barner, 27, was sentenced by Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas on Monday, after Barner pleaded guilty in February to one charge each of endangering the welfare of children, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
				Wilkes-Barre Police say Barner was found unresponsive on a Luzerne County Transportation Authority bus in late December, with his head slumped over on an infant.
				Officers could not wake Barner at first, and he regained consciousness after a city emergency medical technician gave him a dose of NARCAN. Barner denied having used narcotics, instead claiming to have consumed alcohol.
				Police found a 42-ounce bottle of beer in Barner&rsquo;s pocket.
				Barner had four children in his care, aged between 5 months and 7 years old.
				Lupas sentenced Barner to spend a total of 18 months on probation, with the first five months being under house arrest and electronic monitoring.
				This sentence will run at the same time as a 24 month probation that started in March, after he pleaded guilty to punching his wife while she was holding the infant.
				Barner must also pay a total of $50 in fines.
