Philadelphia to keep some virus restrictions as cases rise

Three years after ground was broken, the Huntsville Golf Club opened for business in 1994.
				Work started on the par-72, 6,827-yard course in Lehman Township in 1991. The entire facility wasn&rsquo;t completed, but the course was to start July.
				World-recognized golf architect Rees Jones, son of legendary golf architect Robert Trent Jones, designed the course. Rees Jones was named one of the top present-day golf architects by Golf Digest magazine. Among his other courses was Hazletine National Golf Club, the site of the 1991 US Open.
				Huntsville was limited to 300 members. Each member purchased a $15,000 bond, which will pay 6% interest semi-annually. There was also a $5,000 initiation fee and annual dues of about $2,500.
				&ldquo;We&rsquo;re getting close to our 300-member limit,&rdquo; club director Richard Maslow said, &ldquo;but we still have some left.&rdquo;
				The club also had some work left as well. The clubhouse was still under construction, with completion expected in a few weeks. It will have a restaurant, locker room and private dining area. A temporary clubhouse was set up in the meantime.
				Huntsville also built a practice facility with tees, greens of different lengths and bunkers. The Lake-Lehman and Wyoming Seminary golf teams will use the course for its home matches.
				1962 
				Cal Jones threw a shutout as Mayflower defeated Ashley 10-0 in Central League baseball.
				1964
				Determination led to Nanticoke&rsquo;s Joseph Kuchta landing a 24-inch brown trout in Arnold&rsquo;s Creek.
				Kuchta had the lunker hooked six previous times, only for the trout to break free. This time Kuchta landed the fish with a small worm as bait.
				1965
				Deer racks of two local hunters qualified for the Boone and Crockett North American Big Game record books, according to the State Game Commission&rsquo;s Northeast Division in Dallas Township.
				Charles Fehlinger, of Dallas, had a rack from a 14-point buck. Dominick Sweeney, of Plains Township, had a rack from a 16-point buck.
				2000 
				Shane Bowers threw a one-hitter for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons in a 6-0 win over Rochester in seven innings in the first game of a doubleheader at Lackawanna County Stadium.
				Bowers finished 8-7 with a 4.65 in 2000. He didn&rsquo;t play professional again until 2004 with he appeared in 19 games between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Reading.
				Bowers had a brief Major League career. He was 0-3 with an 8.05 ERA in five games with the Minnesota Twins in 1997.
				2003 
				The addition to lights at Crestwood&rsquo;s and Hanover Area&rsquo;s football stadiums put the Wyoming Valley Conference in a bit of a conundrum about two months before the start of the season.
				&ldquo;The problem I have as (WVC football) commissioner is the lack of officials,&rdquo; Hanover Area athletic director Bob King said. &ldquo;We just don&rsquo;t have enough officials to handle 10 Friday night games.&rdquo;
				Another problem is the lack officials capable of handling the duties of referee or umpire. Those positions carry the most responsibility on an officiating crew.
				Lake-Lehman added lights late in the 2002 season, so the WVC had another school looking to play Friday nights.
				&ldquo;How far can Dallas be behind with their counterparts Lake-Lehman having lights?&rdquo; King said. &ldquo;My feeling is, they&rsquo;ll have them shortly.&rdquo;
				The WVC didn&rsquo;t have to worry about Dallas for awhile. The Mountaineers didn&rsquo;t play their first night game at home until Oct. 11, 2014.
				As for the 2003 schedule, Hanover Area had to play one home game on a Saturday night. Crestwood had four of its six home games on Saturday nights, including a Week 11 contingency game with Pocono Mountain West.
