Blight cleanup group to take on former Wilkes-Barre station

SCRANTON &mdash; A woman from Wilkes-Barre was sentenced Tuesday in federal court for her role in a drug and firearms trafficking ring.
				U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion sentenced Na&rsquo;Deardra Mayhams, 28, to 66 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release on charges of trafficking five grams of crack cocaine, 40 grams of heroin and possessing firearms during her drug dealing activities, U.S. Attorney David J. Freed stated in a news release.
				Freed stated the 40 grams of heroin is equivalent to approximately 1,600 potentially fatal doses of heroin.
				The news release says Mayhams was a member of a drug ring that distributed heroin and cocaine in the Wilkes-Barre area between February 2016 and May 2016.
				Federal investigators found heroin, crack cocaine and a firearm inside Mayhams&rsquo; residence when it was searched.
				Investigators also discovered a second firearm registered in Mayhams&rsquo; name when a second residence was searched.
				Four other members of the drug ring previously were sentenced:
				&#8226; Davon Beckford, of Wilkes-Barre, was sentenced to time served of approximately 13 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release. After violating the terms of his supervised release, Beckford was sentenced to an additional six months&rsquo; imprisonment.
				&#8226; Jaquan Henderson, of Wilkes-Barre, was sentenced to 96 months&rsquo; imprisonment and three years of supervised release.
				&#8226; Stephanie Walter, of Sugar Notch, was sentenced to two years of probation.
				&#8226; Al Dunlap, of Wilkes-Barre, was sentenced to 108 months&rsquo; imprisonment and three years of supervised release. 
				A sixth defendant, Truman Jones, was convicted at trial in December 2019 and awaits sentencing.
				The matter was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, the Luzerne County Drug Task Force, and the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant United States Attorneys Phillip J. Caraballo and Jenny Roberts prosecuted the case.
