The Pennsylvania State Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement recently sent officers to conduct checks of over 4,000 licensed liquor establishments last week to ensure that businesses are abiding by COVID-19 mitigation mandates enforced by the state.
				From July 6 through July 12, officers made 4,360 checks across Pennsylvania, and issued 77 warnings to establishments for failing to comply with COVID-19 mitigation guidelines. No official violations were issued by the state.
				Wilkes-Barre&rsquo;s enforcement office, one of nine bureau offices located in Pennsylvania, conducted 960 checks over the course of the week, and issued just one warning. The checks are unannounced and can occur anywhere, although the focus is primarily on areas with a high coronavirus transmission rate.
				All licensed liquor establishments are required to comply with mandates including:
				&#8226; The wearing of masks while exiting, entering and traveling through the establishment.
				&#8226; Six feet of space between tables, or physical barriers between booths that are situated back-to-back.
				&#8226; Occupancy limits must be posted and enforced.
				&ldquo;Our officers continue to ensure licensed liquor establishments are taking the necessary steps to keep their customers and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic,&rdquo; said Major Jeffrey Fisher, director of the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.
				The most checks were conducted by the Philadelphia enforcement office, with 1,343 checks and four warnings. The Harrisburg office only made 53 checks but issued 24 warnings.
				Establishments found in violation of the COVID-19 mandates may face administrative citations, and further violations could result in the business&rsquo;s liquor license being revoked.
