Courts get creative to restart jury trials amid pandemic

WHITE HAVEN &mdash;A woman from White Haven was arraigned Wednesday on charges she stole money from Joe&rsquo;s Kwik Mart&rsquo;s Exxon service station while she was employed as a cashier, according to court records.
				Borough police allege Lauren Elizabeth Myers, 31, of Route 437, conspired with her boyfriend, Nicholas William Walters, 38, to siphon money from transactions from Feb. 3 to March 17 when she was terminated.
				Police allege Myers stole a total of $933.48 during the scheme.
				Myers conducted sales transactions providing customers with change, and afterwards cancelled the transactions putting money aside, police allege.
				Police in court records say Myers would then give the money to Walters when he entered the store.
				Myers allegedly kept a note pad to keep track of the cash she stole.
				After Myers was fired, she promised the owner she would repay the stolen cash by the end of March but failed to do so, court records say.
				Arrest warrants were issued for Myers and Walters on April 14.
				Myers was arraigned by District Judge Ferris Webby in Wright Township on 104 counts of criminal conspiracy, 52 counts of criminal solicitation, 26 counts of theft, and 13 counts each of retail theft and receiving stolen property. She was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $150,000 bail.
				Walters, who faces similar charges, has not been arraigned.
				Police said the alleged thefts were recorded by a surveillance camera.
