Judge William Amesbury released the following statement on his positive COVID-19 test:
				&ldquo;During the week of July 6th-10th , I was informed that someone who had been at the Penn Place building had a spouse that tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, I contacted my primary care physician&rsquo;s office to inquire about locations for testing. As I have shared with my family, co-workers and friends consistently, I have never to my knowledge come in direct contact with a person who was known positive for Covid-19. I registered and received an appointment for testing on Monday, July 13th at 7pm. Although I was, and remain, asymptomatic I went, was tested and was only told my results would be back in two to seven days and was never told to quarantine.
				&ldquo;On Saturday morning, July 18th, I received a call from the city&rsquo;s health department that I had tested positive for COVID-19. I cooperated with that office and have spent the past two days reaching out to everyone I recall being in contact with in the past two weeks. Fortunately, to date, no one in my office, numerous friends and family or anyone else I have come in contact with have tested positive or experienced any symptoms of the virus. I have continued to follow all safety protocols, including wearing a mask and distancing measures, whenever I leave my place of residence and will continue to follow the required guidelines as per the Health Department requirements.
				&ldquo;As I have shared with my family, co-workers and friends consistently, I have never to my knowledge come in direct contact with a person who was known positive or shown symptoms for Covid-19. Had that been the case, I would have immediately self-quarantined. My present quarantine, as per the City Health Department, will end Thursday, July 23rd, as long as I remain symptom-free.&rdquo;
