Police: Woman threatened to blow up police station

WILKES-BARRE &mdash; City police arrested a man from Hanover Township on charges he assaulted another man during a domestic incident inside a residence on Moyallen Street.
				Police allege Matthew James McGonigle, 43, of Nanticoke Street, struck John Mitchell in the back with a board at about 5:40 p.m. Thursday.
				McGonigle was arrested during a traffic stop in the area of South Main and Blackman streets.
				Police said Mitchell sustained a large bruise in the kidney area and a laceration on his arm. He was treated at the scene by city emergency medical technicians.
				According to the criminal complaint:
				Police responded to the residence for a domestic dispute involving the two men and learned McGonigle sped away in a Cadillac. An officer on High Street spotted the vehicle that was stopped as McGonigle placed his hands up without being instructed.
				A baseball bat was next to McGonigle inside the vehicle.
				McGonigle admitted to police he went to Mitchell&rsquo;s residence with the baseball bat due to their relationship that recently ended. During a struggle, McGonigle claimed he struck Mitchell with a two-by-four, the complaint says.
				Mitchell told police, according to the complaint, he left McGonigle several days ago and McGonigle showed up at his residence with a baseball bat. Mitchell claimed McGonigle damaged a fence when he climbed over it and entered the residence.
				Mitchell told police he grabbed a board to protect his mother and McGonigle took the board from him and struck him in the back during a struggle, the complaint says.
				Police in the complaint stated Mitchell he feared McGonigle and saw the &ldquo;rage in his eyes&rdquo; when he charged at him with the baseball bat.
				Police said McGonigle was driving with a suspended license and the Cadillac did not have any insurance.
				McGonigle was arraigned by District Judge Rick Cronauer in Wilkes-Barre on two counts of simple assault and one count each of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, harassment, possessing instruments of crime, criminal mischief, driving with a suspended license and three vehicle citations. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.
