On the Books: “The Map of Lost Memories” loses action, focuses on character development

WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Police on Saturday night seized a van wanted in connection with the shootings of two people at the Interfaith Heights Apartments earlier in the day and served a search warrant at a residence on Madison Street.But there were still many unanswered questions about the case on Sunday, as investigators continued to go about their work.The shooting occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. Saturday in unit 292 of the apartment complex along Coal Street. The shooting victims, an Hispanic man and woman in their mid- to late-20s, were in serious condition at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, police said. Their names were not released on Sunday.The van was located in the area of Elm and Madison streets and was impounded, police said Sunday.Prior to locating the vehicle, police had emphasized that the occupants of the van were being sought for questioning and &#8220;not wanted,&#8221; but also warned the public they should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.Investigators obtained a warrant to search the residence. Police said the female owner of the vehicle was questioned, but was not charged. An unidentified male in the residence was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant, police said.District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said that because the investigation is ongoing she could not comment.Saturday&#8217;s shooting was the fourth incident involving guns in the city since Wednesday, although the incidents do not appear to be related.Other shooting incidents in the city in recent days:&#8226; The body of Peter Bielecki Jr., 49, was found inside 70 Carey Ave. on Friday morning. Salavantis said the man appeared to have been shot.&#8226; Two people, whom police did not identify, were shot outside Club Envy, an after-hours club at 650 S. Main St., just after 4 a.m. Friday. Police said neither person sustained life-threatening injuries, and they were treated at a local hospital.&#8226; Jason Khaleen-Rowe, 25, of Bronx, New York, was shot while handing two handguns to Delroy Toomer, 25, of Scott Street, Wilkes-Barre, just before 10 p.m. Wednesday. Khaleen-Rowe died after being hospitalized.Outside the city, Sunday brought news of a Philadelphia teen shot in the arm in Nanticoke, although he had been staying at the Sherman Hills complex in Wilkes-Barre, police said.
