Life at Full Throttle: Take advantage of fresh garden herbs for a flavor-filled chimichurri sauce

WILKES-BARRE &mdash; So I walked into a newsstand the other day to buy a Fantasy Football magazine and came out with nothing.
				The newsstand no longer sells magazines.
				So I went to another newsstand &mdash; same thing. No magazine for sale in a newsstand store.
				Many years ago I worked at a real newsstand &mdash; Leo Matus News on Public Square. Now there was a newsstand that handled all the items newsstands were expected to carry. They had newspapers from everywhere, cigars, cigarettes, other tobacco products, ice cream, candy, snacks, lighters, lighter fluid, lottery tickets and &#8230; magazines.
				We sold more magazines than anyone around. Why? Because people like to read magazines.
				Now I realize in today&rsquo;s technical world and online options, people can read just about everything on their computers, iPads, cellphones, whatever. But there remains a market for paper magazines. Right?
				So without a proper Fantasy Football guide magazine, how was I to know who to pick in the seventh round of an 18-round draft?
				Or any round, for that matter.
				OK, I found my magazine at Barnes & Noble. It seems supermarkets and drug stores also carry some magazines.
				But to think we now live in a world where magazines are no longer sold at newsstands kind of floored me.
				But, as stated above, the world has changed.
				Back in the day, Mr. Klavonski had a store on West Shawnee Avenue near Orchard Street. It was a variety store, as they were called back then. Mr. Klavonski sold magazines &mdash; he hung them from wire lines near the ceiling of the store. As you walked in, if you looked up, the magazine cover could be clearly seen. If your were a kid, Mr. Klavonski would stop you from walking back too far because the adult magazines were back there.
				But kids wanted to buy sports magazines and comic books. There was a huge market for those back then. We would get our weekly allowance and then head to Klavonski&rsquo;s or Jack&rsquo;s Market or Minnie&rsquo;s Store and we would make our purchases.
				Baseball cards, Yoo-hoo, TastyKakes, ice cream, candy and magazines/comic books were always on the list.
				We would get our Yoo-hoo and our baseball cards, then go outside and find a good spot to sit and open the cards and see whom we got. Mickey Mantle was the card I always hoped for, or any Yankee player. When the cards were opened, then we started to read our comic books. We had to see what Archie and the gang were up to.
				Many years later, we are still kids at heart. We still want to enjoy some of those thrills of our youth. Instead of hoping for a Mickey Mantle card, we now want Patrick Mahomes as our Fantasy Football quarterback, or Saquan Barkley as our running back or Michael Thomas as our wide receiver.
				But we need those Fantasy Football guides to help us decide who to select when our favorite players are gone. We have to know what the rankings are, what the schedule looks like, what is each player&rsquo;s off week.
				This is all critical information always found in the right Fantasy Football magazine.
				Tough decisions to make round by round.
				So, now that I have the magazine, where can I get a Yoo-hoo?
