KINGSTON &mdash; Annmarie Poslock, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Commonwealth Health, Friday said a few patients and staff members at First Hospital in Kingston began exhibiting symptoms of the virus this week.
				Poslock said all patients and staff are being tested through a methodical process that began Wednesday.
				To date, 10 patients and eight staff members have tested positive, Poslock said.
				&ldquo;All patients are being monitored for symptoms of COVID-19,&rdquo; Poslock said. &ldquo;Individuals suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 are quarantined. These patients are being cared for by a dedicated team.&rsquo;&rdquo;
				Poslock added, &ldquo;Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have taken multiple steps to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19, including a no-visitor policy and suspension of group counseling and community dining. The safety of our patients and the delivery of quality, compassionate care are our top priorities.&rdquo;
				Poslock said staff members are wearing medical masks, face shields and gowns while caring for patients. Before each shift, she said staff members are checked for symptoms according to CDC guidance and receive a temperature check.
				She said any with symptoms are self-quarantined while they wait for their COVID-19 test results.
