				Luzerne County Community College wants to continue leasing space inside a county-owned downtown Hazleton building for its southern county campus, according to Tuesday&rsquo;s council work session agenda.
				Its proposed five-year lease extension, which includes additional space, will provide $140,136 in rental income to the county in the first year and include annual increases, the agenda said.
				Located at 100 W. Broad St., the four-story structure with an adjoining wing is called the Broad Street Business Center and once housed the Deisroth Department Store.
				The county accepted ownership of the building from the nonprofit Alliance to Revitalize Center City Hazleton in 2009 because the property was headed for back-tax auction. The nonprofit owners owed the county&rsquo;s community development office more than $1.8 million on loans, which could not be repaid if the property had been sold to the highest bidder, officials said at the time.
				Other agenda items
				Council&rsquo;s work session, which follows a 6 p.m. voting meeting Tuesday at the county courthouse on River Street in Wilkes-Barre, includes a first-quarter financial report and 2018 audit progress update.
				Discussion also is planned on a possible resolution supporting the state&rsquo;s proposed $4.5 billion Restore Pennsylvania infrastructure improvement plan, the agenda said.
				The brief voting agenda includes the sale of tax-delinquent repository properties and a resolution renaming the Pittston active adult center to honor the late Linda Kohut, a veteran county aging agency employee.
				Personnel
				Fourteen county employees were hired in April, according to the newly released monthly personnel report.
				The new hires along with their position and hourly pay:
				Sarah Acker, aging agency care manager, $17.38; Deana Battista, public defender clerk, $15.36; Christopher Burke, deputy sheriff, $15.36; Andrew Feldman and Kristin Perez, Children and Youth caseworker IIs, $19.02; Erika Jimenez and Tracy Saypack, domestic relations receptionists, $12.70; Phaedra Joseph and Rupinder Kaur, Children and Youth caseworker Is, $15.82; Justine Kus, James Newman and Thomas Polomchak, building/grounds custodial workers, $12.75; John Szczepanski, court judicial assistant, $17.03; and Shawn Williams, district attorney drug task force officer, $23.08.
				Two workers also were promoted. Their new positions and hourly pay: Carrie Adams, Children and Youth caseworker I, $15.82, and Nicholas Weron, domestic relations support officer, $19.78.
				Departures
				Ten employees left county employment during the month, the report said.
				Five resigned: 911 executive administrative assistant Diane Burgio, aging agency care manager Janet Jones, aging agency clerk Carol Ann Plevick, 911 telecommunicator David Raudenbush and deputy sheriff Isaac Anthony Troutman.
				Deputy sheriff David Chorey retired.
				There were three terminations: 911 technical support specialist Edward Cornelius and Children and Youth caseworkers Dannis Dublin and Kristal Taylor.
				Children and Youth accountant Denise Chorey resigned.
