11 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Luzerne County

WRIGHT TWP &mdash; With family, friends and fellow scouts by his side, Joseph Otero unveiled the project he&rsquo;s been working tirelessly on for months &#8211; a bench, dedicated to the memory of his beloved cousin, Dylan.
				Otero, a 16-year-old Crestwood student, has been working toward attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, and all his hard work came to fruition on Saturday afternoon outside the Wright Township Municipal Building.
				&ldquo;Now people could have a place to sit and relax if they&rsquo;re waiting for something or someone,&rdquo; Otero said. &ldquo;Plus it will have Dylan&rsquo;s name on it.&rdquo;
				Otero is a member of Boy Scout Troop 434, and has climbed the ranks of the scouts since he was in kindergarten.
				&ldquo;I started as a Lion Scout around 2009 or so,&rdquo; Otero said.
				Otero, along with a handful of workers, started assembling the bench around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, after the concrete had been poured about two weeks prior.
				&ldquo;We used PVC pipes so it wouldn&rsquo;t deteriorate as quickly,&rdquo; Otero said.
				Standing by proudly were Otero&rsquo;s parents, Ralph and Stephanie, as well as his aunt, Donna.
				&ldquo;He&rsquo;s worked so hard on this,&rdquo; Ralph said. &ldquo;He&rsquo;s a special kid.&rdquo;
				The last piece of the puzzle was a plaque bearing a picture of Otero&rsquo;s cousin, Dylan Murphy, who tragically passed away in 2018 after a battle with leukemia.
				Also on hand to lend his support was Matt Howton, the chairman of the Wright Township Board of Supervisors.
				&ldquo;We really appreciate what Joseph&rsquo;s done for the community,&rdquo; Howton said. &ldquo;This bench will be of great use to anyone who comes by here.&rdquo;
				The work isn&rsquo;t done yet for Otero, who still has a few more things to do before he could earn Eagle Scout status: two more merit badges, and a meeting with the Eagle Scout Board of Review.
