SWOYERSVILLE &mdash; The Swoyersville American Legion welcomed the autumn season with a &ldquo;Fall Festival&rdquo; on Sunday as vendors from all over the area set up shop while local residents browsed and enjoyed the cool weather.
				&ldquo;We know that everyone&rsquo;s been stuck at home, so we wanted to do our festival,&rdquo; said Lynda Hizenski, from the Legion.
				The Legion held a similar crafts festival last year, and even with COVID-19 putting a pause on a lot of similar events, Sunday&rsquo;s festival managed to bring people together &mdash; while still keeping them apart.
				&ldquo;These shows are our bread and butter,&rdquo; said Melody Fuller, owner and proprietor of Jagger&rsquo;s Doggy Deli. &ldquo;So many of them have gotten canceled, it&rsquo;s great that the Legion could still do this one.&rdquo;
				Jagger&rsquo;s Doggy Deli is pretty much exactly as it sounds: all homemade dog food and treats in a variety of different flavors. Fuller had a display of the different assortment of treats set up on her table, and customers could pick out what they want.
				&ldquo;The way we do it, instead of a bag of just one treat, everyone could mix and match and pick what they want,&rdquo; Fuller said.
				Fuller&rsquo;s stand was one of roughly 16 scattered around the grounds of the Legion hall, with plenty of room in between each one.
				&ldquo;One of our veterans has a tent here, she reaches out to everyone,&rdquo; Hizenski said. &ldquo;Everyone loves to be involved, especially now that business has slowed down.&rdquo;
				Craft fairs such as this one are always a hit with the Wyoming Valley community, and Sunday in Swoyersville was no exception. Each of the vendors had a steady flow of customers coming through their tents, each looking for a tasty snack, or some new clothes or jewelry.
				Some people, like Marcia Maloney, didn&rsquo;t really have anything particular in mind.
				&ldquo;It&rsquo;s just nice to be out of the house,&rdquo; Maloney said, with her granddaughter by her side.
				One very popular stop was Kernel Moonie&rsquo;s Gourmet Popcorn Shoppe, with Karen Hudak behind the table offering free samples of a variety of different flavors, including a delicious hot cheddar flavor.
				&ldquo;We try to get to as many of these shows as we can,&rdquo; Hudak said.
				Kernel Moonie&rsquo;s has been open for business on Main Street in Luzerne for the last four years, but the secret to such great popcorn dates back a little further.
				&ldquo;Kernel Moonie&rsquo;s started at Hillside Farms about 10 years ago,&rdquo; Hudak said. &ldquo;It got really popular, and eventually we got our own space in Luzerne.&rdquo;
				Food and drinks were served by the Legion, as well. Each vendor rented the space for the day, and proceeds from all of that will go to the Legion and its veterans.
