Unbeaten Williamsport shuts out shorthanded Wilkes-Barre Area

WILKES-BARRE &mdash; Luzerne County was awarded a $250,000 state grant for improvements to the River Common.
				The award from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Community Conservation Partnership program was announced Friday by state Sen. John Yudichak, I-Swoyersville.
				The money will be used for construction of a boat dock, pedestrian pathways, landscaping, Americans with Disabilities Act access and other site improvements on the River Common along the Susquehanna River in Wilkes-Barre.
				The Wildlands Conservancy in Carbon County also will receive a $56,000 program grant for the restoration of 800 feet of Mud Run in Kidder and Penn Forest townships. The project includes stream bank stabilization, installation of in-stream habitat structures, riparian forest buffer and other improvements.
				Yudichak thanked DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn for her continued support of outdoor recreational areas in the two counties.
				&ldquo;Our recreational areas in Luzerne and Carbon counties are an asset for northeastern Pennsylvania residents and visitors to enjoy, and it is essential that we continue to invest in the restoration and development of these sites,&rdquo; Yudichak said in a press release.
				The grant program is funded through state and federal sources, including: the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, Key 93; the Environmental Stewardship Fund, ESF; the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, LWCF; Pennsylvania Trails fund, PRT; Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program, HA; and the ATV Restricted Management Account Fund, ATV.
