KINGSTON &mdash; A strong smell of marijuana came from a mail slot opened by Darrell Steve Armstrong when he answered knocks at his door by state and local drug agents on Wednesday, according to court records.
				Agents were at Armstrong&rsquo;s apartment on Pierce Street with search warrants resulting in a nearly four month investigation alleging he was peddling large amounts of heroin and fentanyl, court records say.
				Twenty-seven bricks, or approximately 1,350 heroin and fentanyl packets, a 9mm Firestar handgun, a digital scale, a cell phone, marijuana and cash were allegedly found in Armstrong&rsquo;s apartment.
				Agents began buying heroin and fentanyl from Armstrong in June, court records say.
				When agents knocked on Armstrong&rsquo;s door with search warrants, he opened and spoke with the agents through a mail slot. Agents detected a strong odor of marijuana through the slot, according to court records. 
				Court records indicate Armstrong is a convicted felon stemming from a drug trafficking offense in Wilkes-Barre about two years ago. He was sentenced in September 2018 to nine months in the county correctional facility followed by two years probation.
				Armstrong was arraigned by District Judge James Haggerty in Kingston on three counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and a single count of illegal possession of a firearm. He was jailed for lack of $100,000 bail.
