‘We’re not going to control the pandemic’

The Wyoming Valley Striders, celebrating their 45th year as a running club, held its first race of 2020 Sunday with the 33nd Annual Fall Age-Group Graded 5.5 Mile Trail Run at Frances Slocum State Park in Wyoming.
				Due to COVID-19, the annual Winter&rsquo;s End 4.5 Mile Run, Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run, Spring 5.3 Mile Trail Run, and Cliff Robbins Sr. Memorial High School Cross Country Races were all cancelled earlier this year.
				Patti Turissini was the overall winner. Turissini&rsquo;s WVS Trail Run credentials now include: 2nd ever female overall winner in the fall, two top female fall wins (2015 and 2016) and two overall spring wins (2017 and 2019).
				Sean Robbins was top male and second-place finisher. Sean was last year&rsquo;s overall winner.
				The first 20 finishers received medals.
				The WyomingValley Striders next event will be a virtual 20K Run Nov. 6 through 8.
				Sunday&rsquo;s race had a record number of entries with 100 and 74 finishers beating out last year&rsquo;s 47 finishers.
