‘Not your traditional student’

SWOYERSVILLE &mdash; The holiday spirit was in the air at the Swoyersville American Legion on Sunday, as the Legion hosted their second annual Holiday Craft Shop.
				From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, the Legion hall was transformed into a Christmas lover&rsquo;s paradise: red, green and white as far as the eye could see, along with a variety of different vendors each with their own unique products for selling.
				The proceeds from Sunday&rsquo;s craft shop, including food and fees paid by vendors to get their space, will go to the American Legion, a cause that many vendors cited as a big reason why they wanted to come out.
				&ldquo;We try to find shows with causes like this one,&rdquo; said Theresa Celestine, of Wilkes-Barre, who had a table with a variety of items, from scarves to dog toys, alongside her mother, Henrietta Saglime.
				Originally from Pittsburgh, Celestine had a number of scarves designed in the familiar black-and-yellow of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
				&ldquo;The last show we were at, we sold out of the Steelers items,&rdquo; Celestine said.
				The interest for vendors was great enough that the Legion filled two floors: the main hall on the first floor, along with a handful of tables in the basement.
				Among those downstairs was local artist Jeff Feist, with dozens of original paintings on hand.
				&ldquo;This is something I&rsquo;ve always wanted to do, but my schedule just didn&rsquo;t cooperate,&rdquo; said Feist, a Pringle native who started painting roughly three years ago.
				His works were varied in color and in theme, with city skylines next to ocean waves.
				&ldquo;It&rsquo;s just kind of whatever comes to mind, that&rsquo;s what I paint,&rdquo; Feist said. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve had times where I sat down with an idea, and by the time I&rsquo;m done it&rsquo;s completely different.&rdquo;
				Some other vendors included Donna Pavalone, of Carbondale, with a collection of chunky knit blankets that don&rsquo;t require the use of a needle to make; Cindy Kuhns, a member (and past commander) of the Swoyersville American Legion with hand-poured wax candles and Sharon Reino of One Stroke Designs.
				Reino&rsquo;s table was filled with glasses painted in different styles, each designed to evoke a different memory or to resemble a different part of nature.
				&ldquo;I started doing this at the beginning of the pandemic,&rdquo; Reino said. &ldquo;I get my inspiration from nature.&rdquo;
