Their view: New Supreme Court is sending surprisingly centrist signals

HARVEYS LAKE &mdash; Santa and his magic reindeer paid a visit to the municipal building on Sunday afternoon, handing out presents and taking photos with children as part of a tree-lighting ceremony put on by the Harveys Lake Recreational Committee.
				&ldquo;Everything has been getting canceled; these kids weren&rsquo;t going to get a chance to see Santa,&rdquo; said Denise Sult, the chairwoman of the Recreational Committee. &ldquo;We wanted to do something for the kids and for the community.&rdquo;
				Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived around 2 p.m. on the back of a fire truck from the Idetown Fire Department after doing a lap around the lake to greet the community.
				Dozens of children and their families stood in line waiting to get a picture with Santa, and to drop off their Christmas list with Santa&rsquo;s &ldquo;elves.&rdquo;
				Music was played throughout by Brian Orbin of PartyTime DJ&rsquo;s. Orbin, a resident of Harveys Lake, was decked out in his finest Christmas-inspired suit.
				&ldquo;I got the call asking me to be here, and I was more than happy to do it,&rdquo; Orbin said.
				With social distancing in mind, volunteers from the Recreational Committee marked out lines in chalk to note how far apart people should be while waiting in line, and instead of having children sit on Santa&rsquo;s lap, they sat a safe distance in front of St. Nick.
				&ldquo;It&rsquo;s just nice that they did this,&rdquo; said Bryann O&rsquo;Brien, waiting in line with young Roman O&rsquo;Brien while he waited to see Santa. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m glad we&rsquo;re able to be here.&rdquo;
				While Santa certainly had a strong showing of support from the community, it seemed as though many of the children were just as interested in checking out his collection of &ldquo;reindeer&rdquo; &mdash; alpacas from Pine Valley Alpacas located just up the road in Dallas.
				While the children got to pet and feed the alpacas, the owners of the farm, Dan and Karen Rader, also had a table of products for sale, including yarn and clothing spun from alpaca fibers.
				Pizza and refreshments were served courtesy of Grotto Pizza.
				As the last stragglers got their photos and gifts from Santa, the crowd made its way over to the decorated Christmas tree sitting outside the municipal building.
				With a little Christmas magic from Santa and Mrs. Claus, the lights were turned on to the delight of all.
