First Posted: 12/4/2012 Ruth M. Carey, age 92, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, N.J.
Born in Plymouth on Dec. 14, 1919, Ruth was the daughter of the late William H. and Jennie Roberts Rowe.
Ruth worked as a sales clerk for the former Fowler, Dick &amp;amp; Walker Department Store, Wilkes-Barre.
She was a past president of the Plymouth Cambrian Club and a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary.
Ruth was a member of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, and its United Methodist Women.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Harold C. Carey; sister, Dorothy Lake; brother, William Rowe; sons-in-law, Fred Wolcott and Ed Mazur.
Surviving are daughters, Sarah Wolcott and Joyce Mazur, both of Toms River, N.J.; granddaughters, Elizabeth Piccola and husband, Rich, Toms River, N.J.; Joyce Storch and husband, Eric, Dale, Texas; Jennifer Brennan and husband, Peter, Manchester, N.J.; Lynn Mazur, Toms River, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, and Austin Storch, Dale, Texas; Matthew and Megan Brennan, Manchester, N.J.; Allison and Emily Piccola, Toms River, N.J.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at noon from the Harold C. Snowdon Home for Funerals, Inc., 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. The Reverend Barbara Lynn Pease, pastor of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, will officiate. Interment will be made in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
