KINGSTON &mdash; No doubt Wyoming Seminary&rsquo;s Jake Koretz was the star Wednesday night. The senior guard scored over half of his team&rsquo;s points &mdash; 26 to be exact &mdash; and carried the Blue Knights&rsquo; offense while senior center Ethan Meuser sat on the bench in foul trouble.
				Koretz&rsquo;s performance, though, was only part of the reason Seminary defeated Wilkes-Barre Area 47-46 in a battle of unbeaten Wyoming Valley Conference boys basketball teams.
				It takes digging a little deeper, and beyond the box score, where three Blue Knights resided on defense. First-year starters Gavin Flanley and Isaiah Stull worked the back flanks of the team&rsquo;s 2-3 zone. Reserve Dylan Ostroski was in the middle replacing Meuser, who is considered one of the top big men in District 2.
				Yet, WBA (5-1) couldn&rsquo;t exploit the paint even after Meuser&rsquo;s cameo early in the fourth quarter resulted in him fouling out with 5:32 remaining and the score tied 35-35.
				&ldquo;Tonight was truly a team victory. The box score is not going to tell it all,&rdquo; said Seminary coach Pete Moses, whose team improved to 4-0. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s going to look like Jake carried us and he did, but Dylan, Gavin, (Andrew) Maddock made some big plays, smart plays. They stuck to the game plan. They didn&rsquo;t deviate from what we talked about.&rdquo;
				Ostroski and Flanley teamed up to snap a 37-37 tie and give Seminary the lead for good with 4:20 remaining. Unable to haul in a rebound under the Seminary basket, Ostroski made a leaping, one-handed save and in the same motion whipped the ball inside to Flanley for an easy bucket.
				The basket was the only one scored in the second half by a Seminary player other than Koretz.
				The Blue Knights later built the biggest lead of the game, 43-37 with 2:03 left, on a pair of free throws by Maddock. WBA was able to get within two points twice in the final minute, but turnovers down the stretch were costly.
				&ldquo;I&rsquo;m kind of disappointed with our guard play tonight,&rdquo; Wolfpack coach Pat Toole said. &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t want to even know how many turnovers we had. And unforced turnovers, that was the biggest problem. One of the difficulties in zone is if you&rsquo;re not moving and you&rsquo;re not making passes or not making penetration. We didn&rsquo;t do any of this.&rdquo;
				Koretz sealed the game with two free throws with eight seconds left. WBA&rsquo;s Saquan Portee hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer for the game&rsquo;s final points.
				Meuser entered the game averaging 16.7 points and was a force defensively early on with four blocks. But the aggressive play also led to fouls and he played only about five minutes in the second half. He finished with five points.
				Portee had 15 points for WBA. Naquon Hollman recorded a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds. Cole Walker had 10 points and nine boards.
