WILKES-BARRE &mdash; A son charged with killing his father &mdash; whose body has not been found &mdash; is scheduled to face a Luzerne County jury in May.
				A two-week trial is expected for William Morse IV, 29, of Sugarloaf, on charges of criminal homicide, abuse of corpse, obstructing justice, tampering with evidence, theft, receiving stolen property and obtaining proceeds from an illegal activity.
				State police and Luzerne County detectives charged Morse IV in November 2019 after extensive searches of the family&rsquo;s homestead on Hollow Road in September 2018.
				At the time, William Morse III, 60, was considered a missing person as he was last seen at his home on June 11, 2018.
				Sugarloaf Township police investigated Morse III as a missing persons case. When state police and county detectives took over the investigation in October 2018, the case was considered a &ldquo;dead missing person&rdquo; despite the body not being recovered.
				Investigators suspect Morse IV burned the body in a fire pit on the Hollow Road property.
				After Morse III was reported missing, investigators allege Morse IV began siphoning his father&rsquo;s finances into his own accounts, including opening a money market fund and canceling the father&rsquo;s cellphone service.
				During a preliminary hearing held Dec. 11, 2019, Robin Morse testified her son admitted to her he killed his father. Morse III and Robin Morse were separated at the time as he was residing in different hotels near Jim Thorpe in Carbon County.
				Investigators also have in their possession a notebook that was found by a hunter in a wooded area near the Hollow Road home. A note allegedly written by Morse IV admits to killing his father by bludgeoning the elder Morse with concrete and burning the body, according to testimony at the preliminary hearing.
				President Judge Michael T. Vough scheduled Morse IV&rsquo;s trial to begin May 3 with jury selection to begin April 30.
				As trials have been held at the Mohegan Sun Arena due to the coronavirus pandemic, Morse III&rsquo;s trial is set to take place at the courthouse. 
				Deputy District Attorney Daniel E. Zola is prosecuting. Attorneys Frank McCabe and Jessica Miraglia are defending Morse IV.
