Dallas School board hires nurse's aids &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Dallas School Board alleviated what one board member called "a pressing
need" by authorizing the hiring of two part-time nurse's aids for the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Westmoreland and Dallas elementary schoolsBoard member Richard Coslett, who
proposed the hirings at Monday night's meeting, said students at the two
elementary schools are often left without adequate medical care because the
current full-time nurse is shared by both schools. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The aides would each work three hours per day at an hourly rate of $6. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In other business, the board accepted "very regretfully" the resignation of
secretary Milton Lutsey who has served the district since 1989. Lutsey, a
former Wyoming Valley West teacher and basketball coach, said he was resigning
because the job was too time consuming. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Being involved in education for 30 years, I can say that there isn't a
school board more dedicated than this one," Lutsey said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Superintendent Gerald Wycallis commended Lutsey for his work. "You've done
an outstanding job. Your dedication is truly commendable," he said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lutsey's resignation is effective Dec. 31. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Also at the meeting, the board heard criticisms of its 1992-97 Long Range
Plan by members of the Citizens Advisory Committee, who voiced concern about
the plan's "lack of specifics and measurability." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It sounds more like a wish list than a long-range plan," said John Litz.
"Improve this, expand that. It all sounds very encouraging but there are no
specifics or programs that are able to be measured." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Other members said the plan includes goals which were mentioned in previous
long-range plans. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The board agreed to include an annual report each March for the next five
years to review the progress made toward each goal listed in the plan.
