William Acornley &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Oct. 9, 1992 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; William E. Acornley, 68, of Matson Avenue, Parsons, Wilkes-Barre, died
Friday in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, after being stricken earlier at home.
He had been in ill health for some timeBorn in Hudson, Plains Township, he was
the son of the late Walter and Ella Edgerton Acornley. He was a 1942 graduate
of Plains Memorial High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He had served with the Army, and received a bachelor degree in accounting
from Wilkes College. A certified public accountant, he practiced in Scranton
for most of his career, and was a partner in several accounting firms there. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of Parsons Primitive Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, and
had served as choir director, trustee, treasurer and Sunday school
superintendent of the church for many years. He was also involved in the
Primitive Methodist Church Conference and had served on several boards and
committees of the conference, including the board of directors of the Wy-Val
Bookstore, Wilkes-Barre. He was also involved with the Pennsylvania Christian
Endeavor for some time, and had served as director of the Orpheus Choral
Society, Wilkes-Barre, for many years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member and past master of Landmark Lodge 442, F.&amp; A.M.,
Wilkes-Barre, and was currently treasurer, a position he has held for several
years. He was also a member of Keystone Consistory; Scottish Rite Masonry,
Scranton; and of Irem Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He and his wife, the former Jeanne Austin, had celebrated their 45th
wedding anniversary in 1991. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Acornley. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Mrs. David (Linda)
Chapple, Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. David (Robin) Parry, Strongville, Ohio; Mrs.
Kenneth (Lisa) Carroll, Quakertown; sons, Jeffrey A., Wilkes-Barre; Scott C.,
Oreland; Bryan D., Glenside; 10 grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the H. Merritt Hughes
Funeral Home, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. William Fudge,
Executive Director of the Primitive Methodist Church, USA, and the Rev. Dr. K.
Gene Carroll, Ph.D., pastor, officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Masonic services will be conducted 8 p.m. Sunday by Landmark Lodge. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Parsons Primitive
Methodist Church, 193 Austin Ave., Wilkes-Barre, 18705.
