 Making decisions calls for weighing the authority of the information one is
given. And regarding American servicemembers missing in action in Vietnam, few
people speak with the authority of Sen. John Kerry of MassachusettsThat's why
we're willing to heed his advice on easing relations with Vietnam. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Kerry is a decorated Vietnam veteran and the chairman of the Senate Select
Committee on P.O.W.-M.I.A. Affairs. His committee has met for months to sift
through data and testimony to learn the truth about American M.I.A.s. It's
safe to say no one knows more about the issue today than he does. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kerry and three colleagues currently are in Vietnam on a fact-finding
mission. The senators claim they've been given unprecedented access to
Vietnamese records and information. They feel this cooperation is sincere, and
merits some reciprocating action on the part of the United States. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 And they -- especially Kerry -- should know. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Those of us who are on this trip are strongly inclined to urge the
President to take certain actions," Kerry said. "This cannot be a one-way
street. I think it would be inappropriate of the United States not to act." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 We see no reason to disagree.
