 BETHLEHEM -- With his team desperately needing a goal in the third quarter
Tuesday night, Lake-Lehman's Brian Kelly drilled in a 19-yard direct kick. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The only problem was that Holy Ghost Prep's own lethal weapon, Mark
Aridgides, had scored two of his own earlier in the quarter. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Aridgides scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of the third, basically
ending a Lehman comeback hope and also ending the Black Knights' season as
Holy Ghost advanced to the PIAA Class AA soccer championship game with a 5-2
win at Bethlehem Liberty High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Prep (18-7-1), the District 1 champion, will be making its second straight
appearance in the title game, facing either Quaker Valley or Fairview on
Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shippensburg University. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lehman, the District 2 champion, ends its season at 21-3. The loss also
ended the Lehman playing career of Brian Kelly, a four-time Wyoming Valley
Conference all-star and a three-time WVC Division 1 MVP. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I have no regrets," said Kelly, who scored two goals to finish with 45 on
the season. "I've enjoyed the four years. I couldn't ask for more this year.
The guys gave everything they had for 80 minutes in every game they played. It
was an honor for me to be a part of a team like Lake-Lehman." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Aridgides, who helped Prep to a 2-0 first-half lead with a goal, scored two
more times in the third to give the Firebirds a 4-0 lead. He fired in his
first third-quarter goal at 3:31, beating two defenders in the left side of
the penalty area and scoring from 10 yards out. The junior forward then took a
clearing pass at midfield, beat the only defender between him and Lehman
keeper Kevin Lowery, and scored again at 12:01. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Less than two minutes later, Kelly lined in his direct kick, cutting the
deficit to 4-1. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We knew we weren't going to stop Mr. Kelly all together," Prep Coach Fan
Nick said. "We wanted the rest of the team to beat us." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 While Aridgides' goals hurt Lehman in the third quarter, Prep's Pete
Doran's 20-yard score just 2:56 into the game set the tone. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We wanted to come out strong and post a shutout for the first 5 to 10
minutes," Kelly said. "Then we wanted to hit the boards hard offensively. The
goal set us back and sort of gave us a slap in the face and we weren't able to
come back." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Black Knights tried though. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A minute after Doran scored, Kelly sent a 35-yard direct kick into the
penalty area, but teammate Mike Petruska pushed a shot just wide. Kelly later
just missed with a header. Then in the final minute of the opening quarter,
Kelly passed inside to Chris Salko, but Prep keeper Bob Doyle made the save. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "In the first quarter, they had two chances and we had three," said Lehman
Coach Bill Tooley. "They just put it away. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It was just a matter of converting your chances. We could have been up in
the first quarter. If we're up and playing ahead, it's a different story." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Instead, the Black Knights found themselves down 2-0 at halftime. Aridgides
took a pass from Doran inside the penalty area and scored the Firebirds'
second goal at 6:25 of the second quarter. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lehman used fullback Tim Norconk, the team's best defender, on Aridgides
and he did a fine job. There was just those few breaks. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "(Aridgides) is a really good player," Tooley said. "Tim had his hands
full. Aridgides' first goal wasn't Tim's fault, it was a nice 1-2 ball. Even
the second one, Tim was up on a restart. Norconk played him really tough." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After Prep increased its lead to 5-1 on a Pat Dougherty goal at 2:02 of the
fourth, Kelly scored his final goal of his Lehman career. The All-American
midfielder closed his Lehman career with a 23-yard direct kick for a goal with
just over six minutes to play. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
