 Mabel Howarth, 97, a guest at Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, died Friday
at the center. She formerly resided on South Street, AvocaBorn in Honesdale,
April 1, 1895, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lena Bender Beck.
She was a member of St. John's Primitive Methodist Church, Avoca. She was a
graduate of Honesdale High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Nobel, in 1957; brother, Nelson. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are daughters, Anita Ormand, Rehoboth Beach, Del.; Virginia
Price, Fairfax, Va.; Jeanette Vermack, Avoca; sons, William, Avoca; Donald,
Jupiter, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Ruane and Regan Funeral
Home, 1308 Grove St., Avoca, with the Rev. Ronald Gablick, pastor,
officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in Langcliffe Cemetery. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
