Savor those beautiful moments of Christmas &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 (EDITORIAL) &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; If you're reading this, it's over: the presents, we mean. Especially if you
have kids. For no self-respecting six-year-old would let Mom or Dad forget
that on Christmas morning, the wrapping paper comes first and second and
third. The newspaper finishes a very distant lastSo the stockings have been
emptied, the wrapping paper crumpled, and Jimmy now is tearing about the
house, sounding very much like Avoca as he flies his new toy plane. Though
you've been up since 6 a.m., when you awoke to see Jimmy's face not six inches
from yours, patiently waiting, you're only now able to enjoy a hot cup of
coffee with your morning paper. And it's almost 10 o'clock. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Our message this morning is simply this: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Savor this moment. Put your paper down; let the sounds of your household
wash over you. Hear the gentle crinkle as the cat pads softly through the
wrapping paper. Smile at the only-on-Christmas clamor of a youngster enjoying
(and then, probably, discarding) a shiny new toy. Listen to Grandma bustling
about the kitchen getting breakfast for everyone, or to Uncle Frank as he lays
out his instruments as carefully as a surgeon for his annual Christmas
waffles. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bask in the sights and sounds of this Christmas, Dec. 25, in the year of
our Lord 1992. Treasure the holiday smells: of Scotch pine; of gingerbread; of
the crisp and factory-fresh bathrobe you're wearing this very minute. (Look,
the tags are still dangling from it.) &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Savor these and more. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 For years from now, when Jimmy's up and grown, and his plane has long since
landed at the Salvation Army, and Uncle Frank hasn't made waffles in ages, and
Grandma has met the Christmas child for real in the world beyond -- years from
now, you'll remember this moment. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Merry Christmas, Wyoming Valley. You'll remember this as fondly as any
moment in your life.
