 Francis Gurnari &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dec. 21, 1992 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Francis T. (Buddy) Gurnari, of South Hilderbrand Road, Dallas, died Monday
in the Geisinger/Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, following an
illnessBorn in Luzerne, he resided there most of his life. He resided the last
four months in Dallas. He was a son of the late Dominick and Angeline Zuppa
Gurnari. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a 1935 graduate of Luzerne High School, where he starred in football
as an all-scholastic wide receiver. Later, he received a scholarship to attend
the University of Miami. He was self-employed as the owner of a Texaco gas
station on Route 315 in Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was also the owner of Buddy Gurnari's Bar and Grill and 19th Hole on
Course. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps
in Europe. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was an avid golfer and a three-time club champion of the Fox Hill
Country Club, Exeter. He also won the Golf Senior and Super Senior
Championships. He was a member of American Legion, Post No. 525, Luzerne. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He and his wife, the former Marie Palsovitch, celebrated their 36th wedding
anniversary on Dec. 1, 1992. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by brothers, Victor, John and Joseph. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In addition to his wife, surviving are sons, Francis and Michael, both of
Harveys Lake; daughters, Deborah, Miami Beach, Fla.; Mrs. James (Karen)
Ashton, Harveys Lake; five grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from the George A. Strish
Funeral Home, 269 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12
p.m. in St. John's Nepomucene Church, Luzerne. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Heart
Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
