 So, Nanticoke school directors: Just why did you extend that contract? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Say what you will about taxpayers' forums, they sure do ask good
questionsThe most recent query by the Greater Nanticoke Area's forum is a case
in point. The forum noted that the local school board extended a contract
without renegotiation. And it's not just milk money they're worried about; for
the contract with White Transit School Bus Inc. will last for five years,
forum officials said, and will cost close to a million dollars a year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The forum folks asked, Why? Why is the district so willing to pay so much
more than nearby districts are paying? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The questioners deserve an answer. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 We can tell you this much, school directors: Silence will only make your
constituents angrier -- and more, not less, inclined to haul you into court. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The directors should invite the forum leaders to the next school board
meeting, and give them an answer straight and plain. There's no need for
lawyers to get involved in this matter. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Besides, now the rest of us are wondering, too.
