Hazel Murphy &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jan. 7, 1994 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Hazel Frances Murphy, 90, of Chevy Chase, Md., and Eagles Mere, died Friday
afternoon at Laporte United Methodist Home, LaporteBorn May 21, 1903, in
Denver, she was the daughter of the late William and Della Noble Mowbray. She
was a graduate of Denver Central High School, University of Kansas and
University of Boulder, Colo. She received her master's degree from Columbia
University, New York. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was principal at an elementary school in at Florham Park, N.J., in the
early 1930s, and taught during World War II. She retired from Montgomery
County School System, Maryland, after 34 years of teaching. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She resided in the Washington D.C. area for the past 60 years. She was a
member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Bethesda, Md. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was also a member and served in various leadership roles with the
American University Women's Club, Delta Zeta Sorority, Kenwood Garden Club,
the Gallaudet University for the Hearing Impaired in Washington D.C., the 20th
Century Club, and the Kenwood Country Club. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Desmond Francis, Oct. 11, 1981;
brother, Jack. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Oliver, Eagles Mere;
grandchildren, Maureen Myers, Eileen Oliver-Redles, Karen Ann Oliver and Kevin
Oliver; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Private funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the P. Dean Homer
Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, with the Very Rev. Patrick J.
McLaughlin, V.F., officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wheaton, Md. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Memorial donations may be made to the Dushore Music Club, Peggy Anderson,
P.O. Box 223, Dushore, 18614.
